Brendan Blayney
Brendan Blayney’s journey in carpentry spans over 17 years, showcasing a diversity of experience spanning residential rough and finish work, commercial projects, and landscaping. His passion for carpentry ignited in his twenties while renovating a historic colonial-style home for his aunt in Cornwall, Ontario. This pivotal project marked the moment when Brendan realized he had the patience, ability, and desire to produce detailed, high-quality work.
In 2016, Brendan honed his skills further by completing the General Carpentry course at St. Lawrence College. His professional career began with Minto in Ottawa where he specialized in building custom homes and restorations. After 5 years, he decided to try something different and entered the world of commercial construction. Some of the many building projects included dairy barns, chicken barns, gas stations, and franchise fast food restaurants. However, his heart always pulled him back to finishing construction where he could focus on the finer details of carpentry.
After a traumatic ATV accident in 2022 left him with a fractured pelvis, Brendan realized that he needed to seek a less physically demanding role. While researching local businesses, Brendan was drawn to Millennial Contracting for its reputation as an industry leader renowned for delivering top-quality craftsmanship. Brendan is proud to be part of the company’s dynamic team.
When not working, Brendan can usually be found outdoors with his wife and kids. They relish watching their daughter dance her heart out on stage and cheering on their son at the baseball diamond where he pitches for his local house league team or the Cornwall River Rats travelling team. Any remaining spare moments are filled with personal home renovations (which are, of course, half done). A carpenter’s home is never fully ‘done’!
Brendan is known by his co-workers as Mr. Positive, and that sums up his character, personality, and work ethic perfectly. Brendan’s outlook on life is one of optimism and gratitude for the world in all its beauty. Remember, every day is a beautiful day; it’s just not always sunshine and blue skies.
